So we decided to have lunch there, especially since KKlub members have 30% off!

Not surprisingly, we were the only one's dining there.

For starters, we ordered a soup. Onion soup. It was creamy, like what I expected. Instead, it was the kind where you could actually see the onions. It was served hot with a slice of cheese and croutons. Tasty. But the cheese.. to me, didn't really compliment the soup. Would have preferred the soup by itself.

messy at the side 'cause the waitress spilled some.

My dad, being my dad, ordered the Fried Kuey Teow (despite the manager's suggestion to try their western fare instead). He actually wanted a noodle soupy type of dish, but unfortunately, quite a number of items on the menu were unavailable then. Not good!

The plate of Fried Kuey Teow cost RM10.90. For that price, they could have given a bigger portion and more prawns. Simply said, he was disappointed.

I had Rosemary Chicken for RM18.90. It arrived 5 minutes after my dad finished his Fried Kuey Teow. According to the menu, chicken was roasted and vegetables steamed.

Chicken was rather bland. Thankfull there was the sauce. Sauce was pretty good- could definitely make out the taste of Rosemary in it. When we called the waiter, he proceeded to tell us that the chicken was SUPPOSE to be half cooked. The manager told us the same thing too. In fact, he calls it "medium rare". =.="... Obviously knows nothing about food, both of them. I've not heard of chicken being served half cooked, so I came home, Googled it up. And chicken half cooked equals presence of E coli bacteria or salmonella which can cause diarhea. Oh no! At least they made it up re-roasting the chicken and gave us an extra slice of halal ham :)

My brother ordered Lamb Cutlets for RM33, before discount. Consistency wasn't there. The first 2 cutlets were good, but the last one let him down. It was too dry. Chutney was served with brinjal (hmm) and was too sour for his liking.

Overall, the western cusine was definitely more impressive then the Asian one.

I ordered a Michael Jackson and my brother, Nescafe Ais. It tasted just like mamak Nescafe Ais. My dad ordered honey lemon, but lo and behold, THEY HAD NO HONEY! Worst thing was they took like 15 minutes before they informed us. Very disappointing..

Overall, I would say the Western food was much better than the Asian fares. However, even the Western food wasn't very good, just so-so. If you are a member of the club it's quite cheap, comparing to that type of restaurants. However, the poor service just let us down. Obviously their staff aren't trained at all... ):

In total, it cost us RM66.30 for the 3 of us, after 30% discount. I think the price is because of my brother's lamb, RM 33.90 before discount, which makes it RM23.70. But that's for 3 pieces of lamb cutlets, not too expensive then.

I'll give their service a ZERO out of 10. BAD SERVICE!!

The ambiance wasn't too bad so I'll give it a 6.

The food, taste wise i will say the western food wasn't too bad. 6 out of 10

Food presentation was good. 7 out of 10

Drinks are just like what you get in a mamak, so.... 3 out of 10

Not recommended if you are not the Club member!

Nanrng Fa Thai Restaurant

Cheng cheng cheng.........
re-opening of The Movers™!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Starting with a food review! Not exactly spectacular but better than many Thai restaurants out there. The beef was tender and not chewy and the curry not too thick or thin like some other Thai restaurants I've been to.

After that we had the deep fried squid. It was really good with the chili sauce they gave. The squid wasn't too oily like many deep fried stuff and was had a crunchy fried batter. It also wasn't very chewy and tasted quite good. Although not exactly fantastic it was nice.

Then came the fried fish with mango salad on top. The salad was actually mango kerabu. This was the best dish the whole night in my opinion. The mango kerabu on top was really refreshing and they served it with cashew nuts, my favourite. The fish was fried and wasn't very oily. It was quite fresh and went well with the kerabu. I love this dish. You can order it to come with fish fillet instead if you give an early order by phone (number is at the end of the post).

Our last dish was a vegetable dish - the four angled beans fried with belacan. This was pretty normal, the four angle beans were rather crunchy and the belacan wasn't too salty. You can usually get four angle beans like this in most restaurants though.

Restaurant interior

Overall for 5 people it costs 96.50.

I think it was on the expensive side for a regular dinner. However, I think that I will be going back there the next time I'm in the mood for Thai food. They also do catering and all that. Call them for more details. By the way it's open Mondays - Saturdays from 11.00am to 9.00pm. Closed on Sundays.

Restaurant Narng Fa
259, Jalan Bandar 12,
Taman Melawati, 53100, KL
Tel : 03- 4105 2757
